Mercury Game Status

OUT – C Brittney Griner (Foot), F Morgan Bertsch (Rest)

QUESTIONABLE – G Christyn Williams (Knee)

PROBABLE – G Sophie Cunningham (Elbow)

Even though it seemed as if Griner was fully healthy at Mercury Media Day, she finds herself on the report. No indications or information on the severity of this situation, at the time of publishing.

Bertsch will miss the preseason finale before the Mercury’s regular season opener against the 2023 WNBA champions, the Las Vegas Aces, on Tuesday. She did not appear in Phoenix’s first preseason game against the Seattle Storm as she was overseas, according to ESPN.

After battling an ACL injury that caused her to miss the past two seasons, Williams played 17 minutes and scored five points for the Mercury vs. the Storm. Now that she is listed as questionable with a knee issue, however, this may be yet another setback in her young WNBA career.

As for Cunningham, she started in Seattle and scored five points through 13 minutes of play. Since she is probable, there is a good chance she will suit up tomorrow.

More information will come out prior to tip-off against Los Angeles, with Mercury head coach Nate Tibbetts expected to speak pregame.

Once there is more clarification, Burn City Sports will keep you updated.
