Webb threw five strikeouts and gave up two hits and Jung Hoo Lee went 2-for-4 as the Giants (9-11) won its second straight game.

Logan Allen allowed one run on three hits in 4.2 innings for the Diamondbacks (9-11). Randal Grichuk, Ketel Marte and Corbin Carroll were the only D’Backs to get a hit.

Early Adversity, Late Drama

Right before finishing the top of the second, Nelson was struck in the right forearm by a comebacker from Mike Yastrzemski. Immediately after tossing the ball to Christian Walker for the third out, Arizona’s starter ran right towards the clubhouse and did not return.

Replacing Nelson, Allen took over on the mound in the bottom of the third and gave up a sacrifice fly to LaMonte Wade Jr., giving the Giants a 1-0 lead.

Webb was dominant throughout the night, recording 19 consecutive outs until he walked Christian Walker in top of the seventh. Since the second inning, the Diamondbacks were held hitless before Grichuk singled in the top of the eighth.

The Giants threatened late in the bottom of the inning as they loaded the bases and Bryce Jarvis found himself in a jam.

With runners in scoring position, Jarvis exited as Kyle Nelson came into the ballgame and was rocked.

Former Diamondback Flores smacked a two-run double to left field and Yastrzemski drove home two more off of a single, making it 5-0 San Francisco. Jarvis was charged with three runs against and Nelson allowed one after the Giants widened the score.

The D’Backs only had three hits as the team never were able to get into an offensive rhythm, falling in its second consecutive game.

After the Giants took the series opener, both teams will be back in action on Friday at 7:15 p.m. PT.
