The Arizona Cardinals have been beefing up their roster throughout NFL Free Agency so far, but recent reports suggest yet another key area may receive a boost.

According to NFL Network insider Tom Pelissero, former Seattle Seahawks center Evan Brown is signing a one-year contract with Arizona.

“Veteran center Evan Brown is signing with the Cardinals on a one-year, $2.35 million deal,” Pelissero said. “Max value [of] $2.9 million with incentives. Brown has 40 career starts, including 16 last season with Seattle. Now he heads to an NFC West rival.”

Going undrafted in 2018, the 27-year-old began his NFL career with the New York Giants. Brown played just a single game for New York before being placed on the practice squad and waived.

Brown would have short stints with the Miami Dolphins and Cleveland Browns until he was given a bigger opportunity with the Detroit Lions.

As a Lion, the Texas native shifted from center to right guard and played 30 games during the 2021-22 seasons. He would pick up a fumble recovery in 2021.

Returning to center, Brown became a free agent once again and decided to head to the Seahawks last season where he started all 16 games he played in.

Even though Brown can slot in at guard, Paris Johnson Jr. and free agent signing Jonah Williams will presumably be on either side of the offensive line while Will Hernandez can come in when called upon.

When looking at their center depth, Brown will join Hjalte Froholdt and Jon Gaines II on the current Cardinals roster. Gaines II has yet to play an NFL game as he suffered a season-ending injury, landing on Injured Reserve last August.
