The Dodgers waited no time getting the bats rolling, scoring 7 runs in the bottom of the 1st to set the tone early. Mookie Betts and Freddie Freeman, who had struggled in the NLDS going a combined 1-21 at the plate, turned their fortunes around by going 5-7.

The 1st inning kicked off with Betts securing a leadoff base hit. After Shohei Ohtani struck out, Freddie Freeman launched a home run to open the scoring. Chris Taylor further extended the lead with a three-run homer later in the inning, concluding the game with a total of 5 RBIs.

Alec Baker and Brandon Pfaadt were on the mound for Arizona during this challenging first inning.

On the flip side, 25-year-old rookie Gavin Stone breezed through the Diamondbacks’ lineup, pitching four scoreless innings. The D-backs finally broke through in the 5th inning, thanks to an RBI single from Blaze Alexander, who has been hitting .406 this spring.

Following the 5th inning, Arizona managed just one additional hit for the remainder of the game.

Arizona is set to face the Oakland Athletics tomorrow at 1:10 PM.
