Phoenix Suns star guard Bradley Beal will return tonight against the Houston Rockets after a five-game absence due to a left hamstring injury.

Beal was originally listed as probable with the injury. He had a good day playing pick-up yesterday in practice, Suns’ coach Frank Vogel said, which led to the upgrade in his status. Beal will be starting and on a “minutes range.”

Eric Gordon (left groin strain) will miss his third straight game for the Suns (35-24). Nassir Little (left knee inflammation) will be out for the second consecutive game. Damion Lee remains out, as he has all season, after he underwent right meniscus surgery this offseason.

For Gordon, “it was just a little discomfort and one more day might help,” Vogel said pregame. The Suns host the Thunder tomorrow night.

Phoenix beat Houston 110-105 Thursday night, but only shot 40% from the floor, so it will be a big boost to have Beal back. Beal is averaging 18.2 points and 4.5 assists in 30 games this season.

“We’re a better basketball team with him out there,” Vogel said pregame about Beal. “He’s one of the best players in the NBA. We’re excited to have him back.”

The Rockets have the same players available as Thursday night. Only Tari Eason (left lower leg injury management) and Steven Adams (right knee PCL surgery) are out.

Phoenix has won nine straight games at home, while Houston has lost three straight games.

The Suns and Rockets meet for the third time in eight days tonight. This marks their fourth and final time matchup this season with the Suns leading the series 2-1. Tip-off is slated to start shortly after 7 p.m. MST. Amar’e Stoudemire will be inducted into the Suns’ Ring of Honor at halftime.
