This will be the second matchup between the in-state rivals during the last two weeks.
The first matchup is one that Arizona State would prefer to put behind them. The Wildcats (21-6, 12-4) dominated in a 45-point home win, making it the largest margin of victory in Territorial Cup history.

The Sun Devils (14-14, 8-9) struggled immensely with efficiency and could not match up with the Wildcats’ size.
ASU and UofA’s rivalry continues to grow both on the court and between the fan bases. Arizona guard Caleb Love intensified that rivalry during his team’s blowout win earlier this month.

Arizona State head coach Bobby Hurley spoke about the loss and what his team needs to improve heading into this matchup.
“We turned the ball over early in possessions a couple of times, took a couple of tough contested shots, and before you knew it was a double-figure game,” Hurley said.

Arizona State had a tough stretch, losing nine of 11 games. However, the team bounced back and put together an impressive double-digit victory against the No. 19-ranked Washington State Cougars.
The Cougars (21-7, 12-5) were on an eight-game win streak going into the game as well as coming off an upset win against the Wildcats.

The Sun Devils now possess an opportunity to defeat yet another top-25 nationally-ranked team. This would be crucial for both the team’s season as well as its rivalry with Arizona.
