Bradley Beal out for tonight’s game vs. Pistons with hamstring injury

Phoenix Suns guard Bradley Beal will miss tonight’s game against the Detroit Pistons (8-45) due to the left hamstring injury he suffered in last night’s win over the Sacramento Kings, coach Frank Vogel said.

Luckily for Beal, this is the Suns’ (32-22) last game before the All-Star Break.

“I know he’s out (against Detroit),” Vogel said postgame last night. “I don’t know what they’re calling it exactly, but he pulled his hamstring. Strained his hamstring, I’ll call it a strain. Okay, hamstring strain. He’ll be out tomorrow, but they don’t think it’s too serious. Hopefully with the break right after tomorrow’s game, he doesn’t miss too much more time, we’ll see where he’s at.”

Vogel added he didn’t know when Beal specifically pulled his hamstring.

Beal subbed out with 7:21 left in the first quarter vs. the Kings with the injury after scoring an early five points. He was eventually ruled out for the remainder of the contest.

Of the Suns’ 54 games this season, Beal has only played in 30 of them due to various injuries. This is the first hamstring injury of the season for Beal, who will snap his 24-game streak of being active tonight despite breaking his nose on Jan. 26 and spraining his ankle last week.

Beal is averaging 18.7 points on 49.3% shooting, 4.7 assists and 4.4 rebounds so far this season. Eric Gordon subbed in for Beal and finished with 23 points, including 20 in the first half last night.

Beal and Damion Lee, who has missed the entire season after undergoing right meniscus surgery, are officially the only Suns’ players on the injury report.

Isaiah Stewart (left ankle sprain) and Quentin Grimes (right knee sprain) are out for the Pistons (8-45). Cade Cunningham (left knee management) is probable.

Tonight’s game tips off at 7 p.m. MST, as the Suns welcome back former coach Monty Williams for the first time since he was fired last May.
