This decision follows a series of reports suggesting that the Diamondbacks were among the frontrunners in the Jorge Soler sweepstakes. Initially, it seemed the D-backs and the Mariners were the final contenders in discussions. However, the Diamondbacks opted to sign Joc Pederson a few weeks ago to fill the designated hitter (DH) role instead.

Last season with the Marlins, Soler came close to achieving a career-high with 36 home runs, an accomplishment that earned him his first All-Star game appearance.

In 2023, his performance placed him in the 94th percentile in xSLG and the 81st percentile in average exit velocity, according to Statcast data.

Soler is renowned for his explosive home runs, exemplified by his pivotal blast in game 6 of the 2021 World Series, which propelled the Braves to an early 3-0 lead.

He subsequently earned the title of World Series MVP, marking his second World Series championship, the first being with the Cubs in 2016.

Throughout his career, facing the Diamondbacks, whom he will encounter 13 times this season, Soler has maintained a .220 batting average and launched 5 home runs over 26 games.

Stay tuned for further updates.
