Diamondbacks sign two top-25 international prospects

On the day that the 2024 signing period opened, the Arizona Diamondbacks got things started by signing Dominican outfield prospects Adriel Radney and Belfi Rivera.

Both of these players are ranked in the top 25 of MLB’s best international prospects, with Radney at #10 and Rivera at #24.

At just under 17 years old and standing at 6’1” and 176 pounds, Radney’s powerful swing promises excitement in the years to come.

Overall, the Diamondbacks entered Monday with $7,114,800 available to spend on international free agents this offseason. According to Baseball America’s Ben Badler, the Diamondbacks have already spent a little over half of their $7,114,800 budget on the first day, signing Radney and Rivera for $1.85 million each.

As for the #1 international prospect on MLB’s list, the San Diego Padres signed Leodalis De Vries to a multimillion-dollar deal on Monday. This marks two years in a row where the Padres have landed the top prospect.
