Williams moved around from California to Illinois, before ending up in Arizona for high school. He played high school football at Chaparral in Scottsdale and earned a lot of accolades like the Arizona Republic naming him the Big School State Player of the Year and naming him to the all-state first-team. He was a great athlete in high school and was drafted by the Chicago White Sox in the 2006 MLB Draft in the 47th-round.

Williams stayed in-state for college and went to Arizona State where he was a solid receiver and punt returner for the Sun Devils. His special teams play earned him a second-team All-Pac-10 honor in 2009, which was his last year in Tempe.

Williams was drafted to the NFL in the 2010 draft in the sixth round at pick 206 to the San Francisco 49ers. Williams is best remembered, unfairly, during his time in the NFL for his two fumbles in the 2011 NFC Championship which led to the Giants winning and going to the Super Bowl where they would beat the Patriots in an upset.

He was in the NFL for a total of six seasons and after the 49ers, saw time with the Chiefs, Broncos, and Jets, before retiring after the 2016 season.

The hire at Perry brings Williams back to the high school landscape where he could have a huge impact on the football program, especially the offense.
