GLENDALE – As the new Arizona Cardinals coaching staff gets settled in OTAs and minicamps, first impressions are always crucial and some players have already hit those out of the park. Offensive coordinator Nathaniel Hackett spoke with the media on Thursday about how the offense is progressing. He discussed the quarterback room and dealing with rookies, but when he got to the wide receiver room is when the spark came out of his eyes.

Hackett talked about how the wide receivers are talented and smart, and specifically highlighted how impressive Marvin Harrison Jr. has been early on.

Hackett on Harrison’s impressive first impression:

The narrative around the league is how disappointing Harrison has been in his first two years. The murmuring might be overblown, after a solid rookie season and an injury-riddled sophomore year. Regardless, Harrison has had constant supporters telling the media how hard he is working towards Year 3. Last month, Hall of Famer Larry Fitzgerald went into great detail about the young wideout’s growth, and now his offensive coordinator is describing the raw athletic ability he possesses.

Hackett described a in-breaker route Harrison ran that had him stumbling his words on how to describe its beauty. The small problem that Hackett sees for the 23-year-old is just working through the noise and the injury. Harrison battled through appendicitis surgery and returned in two weeks time, despite the team’s horrid record at that point. His competitive spirit is unquestionable and truly about getting out of his head that will do him wonders
