Top Five NFL Seasons From Arizona State Wide Receivers

Brandon Aiyuk had an amazing season for the number one seed San Francisco 49ers this year. Where does his season rank among the top five seasons from wide receivers who came out of Arizona State?

5. Shaun McDonald – 2007

Shaun McDonald played at Arizona State from 2000-2002. He had a great senior season where he caught 87 receptions for 1,405 yards and 13 touchdowns.

McDonald was a fourth round pick by the St.Louis Rams in the 2003 NFL draft. He had the best season of his career in 2007. The Phoenix native caught 79 receptions for 943 yards and six touchdowns for the Detroit Lions.

4. Brandon Aiyuk – 2022

Brandon Aiyuk played at ASU from 2018-2019. In 2019 he caught 65 passes for 1,192 yards and eight touchdowns. This lead to him being a first round pick in the 2020 NFL draft by the San Francisco 49ers.

In Aiyuk’s second season in the NFL, he really took off. In 2022, he had 78 receptions for 1015 yards and eight touchdowns.

3. Charley Taylor – 1966

Charley Taylor played at Arizona State from 1961-1963 mostly as a running back. He was drafted with the third overall pick by Washington in the 1963 NFL draft.

Taylor was a great wide receiver who played for 12 seasons and got selected to go the Pro Football Hall of Fame. The best season of Taylor’s career was 1966. In 1966, he caught 72 passes for 1,119 yards and 12 touchdowns.

2. Brandon Aiyuk – 2023

Brandon Aiyuk took a huge step forward into super stardom in 2023. He caught 75 passes for 1,342 yards and seven touchdowns.

1. John Jefferson – 1980

John Jefferson played at ASU from 1974-1977. In his senior season he had 53 receptions for 912 yards and eight touchdowns.

Which led to him being picked 14th overall by the San Diego Chargers in 1978. Jefferson’s best season was 1980. In that season he caught 82 passes for 1,340 yards and 13 touchdowns. He lead the league in both receiving yards and receiving touchdowns.

Brandon Aiyuk just completed his fourth regular season in the NFL. He may have all the spots on this list once he retires. The future is very bright for him.
