The Case For Trey McBride

There were no Arizona Cardinals on the All-Pro offense. The only player who may have a legit argument is tight end Trey McBride. McBride currently has 78 receptions for 791 yards and two touchdowns.

George Kittle has been huge for the San Francisco 49ers this year. So far this season he has 65 catches for 1020 yards and six touchdowns.

The argument can be made that McBride should have the spot over Kittle as he 13 more catches and didn’t have his starting quarterback the first half of the season.

Kittle is also surrounded by all-pro caliber receivers like Brandon Aiyuk and Deebo Samuel while McBride is by far the leading receiver on the Cardinals.

The second team tight end is Sam LaPorta of the Detroit Lions. So far this season LaPorta has 81 receptions for 860 yards and nine touchdowns. LaPorta’s production is better than McBride’s in all of the major categories.

LaPorta did have the luxury of playing in a great offense all season unlike McBride. The Lions are fifth in points per game, averaging 26.9 points.

Detroit’s passing game is one of the best in the NFL. They have 4,090 passing yards so far this season which is third in the NFL.

The Cardinals average 19.4 points per game, which is 24th in the NFL. They have also struggled passing the ball. Arizona is 29th in passing yards in the NFL.

McBride is only three receptions behind LaPorta, while playing in a offense that struggled all year. He also could of put up the same amount, if not more yards than Kittle did with a healthy Kyler Murray playing all season.

Watch out for McBride’s popularity to expand next season as he puts up numbers that will be among the best at the tight end position.
