The Honey Badgers (8-5) were on a four-game winning streak heading into the challenge. However, the team lost their first two games of the tournament to the Campo Verde Coyotes and John Paul II Cardinals.
They are now back on track heading into the new year as they’ve picked up two straight wins. Highland Prep defeated the 7-8 Red Mountain Mountain Lions and 2-10 Peoria Panthers in Friday and Saturday’s games.

The team is led by star senior guard Presley Ibeh, who is averaging 24.9 points, 10.0 rebounds, 3.0 steals, and 2.1 blocks a game. Ibeh is a problem for opposing teams on both sides of the floor and is a leading reason why the Honey Badgers are winning games.

Highland Prep next face off against the 14-2 Rancho Solano Prep Mustangs. The Mustangs have dominated this season and are a team that you don’t want to make many mistakes against.
The Honey Badgers made it to the 2A conference championship and lost last season. They will attempt to get back there with a different outcome this season.
