Can The Arizona Cardinals Stop Deebo Samuel From Stealing Their Bike?

On Sunday, the (3-10) Arizona Cardinals are at home against the (10-3) San Francisco 49ers. The 49ers have won five straight games by a combined score of 162-65. San Francisco has been dominant over this stretch, some may say they are bulling their opponents.

Deebo Samuel got his name from a famous bully. Deebo is a character from the “Friday” movie series that was portrayed by Tommy “Tiny” Lister Jr. In those movies everyone is afraid of Deebo due to his size and reputation. Samuel has earned that nickname with his physical style of play.

Samuel has dealt with injuries this season but now looks to be healthy. In his last three games he has really stood out.

Last week against the Seattle Seahawks, Samuel had seven receptions for 149 yards and a touchdown.

In their previous game against Philadelphia Eagles he had four receptions for 114 yards and a touchdown. Samuel also contributed in the run game with 22 yards and a touchdown.

The former South Carolina Gamecock has scored at least one touchdown in four of these last five wins for San Francisco.

How Have The Cardinals Played Against The Pass?

The Cardinals have given up 2180 yards to receivers this season which is the 11th most in the league. Arizona has only given up 11 touchdowns to wide receivers which is more in the middle of the pack of the NFL.

Over the last four games the Cardinals defense has been good against the pass. They have given up 198 passing yards per game over that span.

This stat can be a bit deceiving as one of those games was against the Atlanta Falcons who are 21st in the NFL in passing yards.

The Cardinals also played against the Pittsburgh Steelers during this run.The Steelers lost their starting quarterback in that game and Mitchell Trubisky did not play well in his place.

The Cardinals’ defense has been good against bad offenses but balance offenses can give them issues. In their last game against the Los Angeles Rams, Arizona gave up 229 passing yards and 228 rushing yards. This is the danger against the 49ers.

The 49ers are able to run and pass at a high level which will open up big plays for Deebo Samuel. Samuel along with Brandon Aiyuk and George Kittle may all be in for big games against this Cardinals defense.
