Jusuf Nurkić Speaks on Playing Former Team for First Time after Suns Defeat Blazers 120-107

Jusuf Nurkić got the chance to square off against his former team for the first time in the regular season tonight, as the Suns hosted the Blazers for their third In-Season Tournament Game. Phoenix defeated Portland 120-107.

Nurkić had 18 points on 7-of-11 shooting, 12 rebounds and four blocks. Eleven of his points came in the third quarter.

The Suns acquired Nurkić from the Blazers this offseason as part of the Damian Lillard. They sent away Deandre Ayton and Toumani Camara to the Blazers and received Nurkić, Nassir Little, Drew Eubanks and Grayson Allen in return.

Phoenix is now 8-6 on the year and has won four straight.

“I love it,” Nurkić said about playing his former team. “I have a lot of respect, a lot of love for the people there from top to bottom. (I) just love being able to share the floor against them and compete. It’s great for me to see familiar faces and people and just to be around them for a little bit.”

The Suns welcome Chris Paul and the Warriors tomorrow night at Footprint Center in the second game of a back to back.
