After a two-week hiatus owing to a calf injury, Devin Booker made Suns’ franchise history against the Minnesota Timberwolves at the Footprint Center on Wednesday night.

With his 31-point night, Booker became the first player in Suns history to record at least 30 points and five assists in each of the first three games of a season.

Remarkably, Booker has achieved this feat while battling through numerous injuries. While the Suns may have already played 12 games this season, Booker played just his third on Wednesday.

Against the league’s #1 overall defense, at least in terms of the least number of points allowed, Booker exploded right out of the gates with seven points in the first five minutes.

In total, Booker accounted for all of the Suns first 14 points, either by scoring them himself or by assisting.

The Suns went on to dismantle Minnesota’s seven-game winning streak by posting a season-high 133 points.

So far this year, Booker has missed an average of four games in between each appearance on the court. Nevertheless, despite these challenges, he has maintained an impressive stat line, boasting averages of 6.3 rebounds, 8.7 assists, and 31.3 points per game.

It seems only fair that if D-Book is able to stay healthy over the past month or so, and at least stays near his current level of play, he will be near the top of the MVP conversation.
