The career long Cardinal was nice in his answer. He gave props to Cardinals’ general manager Monty Ossenfort. Fitzgerald likes the talent that was acquired in the 2023 draft for Arizona.

Early Rounds

The first pick for the Cardinals in the 2023 NFL Draft was offensive tackle Paris Johnson Jr out of Ohio State University. He was the sixth overall pick in the draft and that comes with high expectations. Johnson has played right tackle for the entire season and has lived up to the expectations as the sixth overall pick. He has eight penalties but has only given up three sacks in the 584 snaps that he has played so far. This is very impressive for a rookie.

Arizona’s second round pick was edge rusher B.J. Ojulari out of Louisiana State University. He had a fantastic college career, racking up 25.5 sacks during his time there. He has only played in 24% of the defensive stats for the Cardinals this season but has shown some promise.

Mid Rounds

The Cardinals had two picks in the third round of the draft. The first was corner back Garrett Williams out of Syracuse. Williams has only played in three games but has shown lots of potential. He caught his first career interception against the Seattle Seahawks in week seven.

The other third round pick was wide receiver Michael Wilson from Stanford University. Wilson has really stood out this season. He had his breakout game against the San Francisco 49ers where he caught seven passes for 76 yards and two touchdowns. So far this season he has 25 receptions for 401 yards.

Late Rounds

Ossenfort also made some late round picks in the draft that have made an immediate impact. Their fifth round pick was quarterback Clayton Tune out of the University of Houston. Tune did not have a great debut to say the least but must be showing something in practice as he is the backup for Kyler Murray.

The best value pick may have been Kei’Trel Clark who the Cardinals got in the sixth round out of the University of Louisville. Clark played in 83% of the defensive snaps until he was removed from the starting line-up. Hopefully this is a minor setback for a major comeback.

There are some promising players from the 2023 draft class for the Cardinals. If they are able to have the same success rate with the 2024 draft, Arizona may be on their way to becoming a winning franchise again.
