Diamondbacks outside the top-10 in ESPN’s 2024 Power Rankings

Only a couple minutes after the 2023 season came to an end, with the Texas Rangers holding off the Arizona Diamondbacks to claim their first World Series championship in franchise history, ESPN released their “way-too-early” power rankings for next season.

At the top of the list, to no surprise, are the Atlanta Braves, who have won the NL East for six straight years and are coming off back-to-back 100-win seasons.

If it were not for a couple of postseason collapses, it would appear that the Braves have dominated the MLB since 2021.

Speaking of the Texas Rangers, they were placed second on the list as they will keep almost all of their stars for at least another year.

Coming in at 3rd are the Baltimore Orioles, followed by the Phillies at 4th and the Astros at 5th.

But where were the D-backs?

Well, despite reaching the World Series, ESPN has the Diamondbacks just outside the top-10 in the power rankings.

Which is not much of a shock considering the questionable offseason that waits.

In what may be Arizona’s most important offseason in franchise history, the World Series highlighted their flaws for the whole world to see.

Whether it be a few more power bats or a few more starting pitchers, there are certainly quite a few holes that the D-backs need to fill.

Now, it is up to their front office to spend some money and build upon the momentum that they gained from their 2023 World Series run.
