PHOENIX — Make-A-Wish World Series Arizona became reality this month for two teens battling critical illnesses who traveled to Chase Field for a once-in-a-lifetime baseball experience.

Jesse and Ben, both 17, were invited to Phoenix by Make-A-Wish Arizona and Make-A-Wish Wisconsin as part of their dream to attend the World Series. But they got more than just a seat in the stands.

They met MLB stars including Aaron Judge and Mookie Betts, watched Game 3 from a private suite with Arizona’s own Jordin Sparks and Roberto Clemente’s sons, and toured the Diamondbacks’ home clubhouse. The experience was made possible through a collaboration with Major League Baseball and the local Make-A-Wish chapter.

“Everything’s taken care of,” Jesse said. “No worries, no planning. Just pure fun.”

“We’re bringing home a ‘W’ today,” Ben added, energized by the Arizona crowd.

The surprises didn’t stop there. Judge, a five-time All-Star and the 2023 Roberto Clemente Award winner, took time during batting practice to connect with the teens. Players signed merchandise, MLB provided meal cards, and the energy from fans inside Chase Field made the moment feel even more electric.

Why Make-A-Wish World Series Arizona matters

Make-A-Wish America has granted more than 550,000 wishes since 1980, according to their official site. The Arizona chapter continues to serve dozens of children annually, with MLB partnerships helping elevate the visibility of these moments.

Jesse and Ben’s trip reflects a long tradition of the Diamondbacks supporting youth-focused causes. From their “D-backs Give Back” community programs to consistent player engagement, Arizona has become a welcoming home for MLB’s most meaningful off-field work.

A moment they’ll never forget

The teens returned for Game 4 the next night, still glowing from the previous day’s magic. They left Phoenix with jerseys, memories, and a story that speaks louder than stats ever could.
