Burn City Best Bets: World Series Game Five – DraftKings Edition

Arizona Diamondbacks left fielder Lourdes Gurriel Jr. (right) rounds the bases after hitting a three-run home run during the eighth inning against the Texas Rangers in Game 4 of the 2023 World Series at Chase Field in Phoenix, AZ. The DBacks lost to the Rangers 11-7, putting the Ranger at 3-1 in the World Series.

In game four of the World Series the Arizona Diamondbacks suffered an 11-7 loss which featured both teams using their bullpens. Tonight, the Diamondbacks are facing a World Series loss at home against the Rangers. Zac Gallen is on the hill for the Diamondbacks and will be facing the Rangers ace Nathan Eovaldi. We’re going to take a look at some of our favorite bets for this game five matchup.

Game Lines

Despite the Diamondbacks losing two straight games at home, the money line is set at even money for tonight’s matchup. Both the Arizona Diamondbacks and Texas Rangers have money lines set at -110 ahead of first pitch. The popular pick heading into tonight is the Rangers money line at -110. Texas has received 58% of bets to win the game.

Instead of taking a money line, I’ll go with the spread. I like the Diamondbacks +1.5 in tonight’s game. Although Arizona has suffered back-to-back losses, I think it will be a close one tonight. Arizona hit well against Eovaldi in game one, before ultimately losing. If Gallen can return to his Cy Young favorite form, tonight’s game, I can’t see the Diamondbacks losing by more than a run. I can also see them winning the game outright if Gallen can throw like the Zac Gallen we’re used to seeing.

Pitcher Props

Tonight’s pitching matchup, if they both throw to their full capabilities, can be quite the battle. Zac Gallen has a strike outs line set at 4.5 ahead of tonight’s start, and I like the over. Gallen punched out five hitters in game one against the Rangers, but with the loss of Adolis Garcia, Texas will have to start a replacement. Despite it not being a plus money bet, I think it’s a safe one.

I also like Gallen over on 15.5 outs recorded. The Diamondbacks ace got pulled after five complete innings in game one, but I think tonight Torey Luvollo will leave Gallen in, if he’s throwing well, to gain momentum for him. I can definitely see Gallen working into the sixth inning in tonight’s game. Due to the simple fact that if you lose tonight, the seasons over. Arizona needs their ace to step up tonight and carry them into a game six in Texas with momentum.

Hitter Props

Ketel Marte has been the man so far in the postseason. Marte is on a historic playoff run and passed the postseason game hit streak this series. Even though the bet is -265, which is not great value at all. I love the over on 0.5 hits for Marte. I feel like this is one of those bets you ride until it stops hitting. Next season I might even be still riding the hit streak.

As far as props on other Diamondbacks, I like Christian Walker to go over 1.5 total bases tonight. Walker is a guy who when he’s hitting the ball well, he continues to do so. Last night his bat really came alive with a three-hit game, and I expect him to ride it into tonight’s game.

To finish it off, I like Corbin Carroll over on 1.5 total bases. Carroll has swung the bat well this post season, and despite being a rookie, no moment is too big for him. The Diamondbacks future rookie of the year has been other worldly in his rookie campaign. I expect Carroll to have a good night tonight, even if the Diamondbacks can’t force a game six.
