With still no concrete plan on where they will play in the near future, the Arizona Coyotes’ arena situation has been brought up yet again by the mainstream media.

Today, NHL commissioner Gary Bettman has voiced his thoughts on the matter when appearing on ESPN’s Pat McAfee Show.

“The Coyotes need a new arena, plain and simple,” Bettman said. “Our hope is that some point this season, we will be in a position to announce a new arena for the Coyotes. That’s the goal because it is an awesome market and it’s a place we want to be in.”

Three weeks ago, ‘Yotes owner Alex Meruelo wrote a letter to the fanbase and talked about news around a new building will “come very soon.”

After the proposed $2.1 billion Tempe arena district failed, Meruelo put in a Letter of Intent to purchase land in Mesa.

As of now, there has been little rumblings, but nothing noteworthy enough about new developments in that area of Arizona.
