The Phoenix Suns have been issued their second penalty by the NBA today, as Josh Okogie was fined $2,000 for flopping in the team’s season opener.

The flopping penalty occurred with just under 3:30 left in the game, when he fell forward going up for an offensive rebound after a light push from Kevon Looney to the back. There was no whistle on the play. This is the first flopping fine by any team this season, as the NBA aims to crack down on it. Click here to watch the play.

Okogie was arguably the second-best player on the court yesterday for the Suns, being a pest on the offensive glass and guarding Steph Curry all game long. He also shot 7-of-9 from the floor, recording 17 points and four offensive rebounds total. He drained his only three-point attempt of the night in the final minute of the game to help the Suns pull off a 108-104 road victory.

After the Suns’ second preseason game on Oct. 10, Okogie made a hilarious statement postgame that he “ain’t trying to get fined in the preseason” in reference to questionable calls by the officials. He wasn’t fined then, but now he has been issued the first fine of the year.

The Suns also had a 2024 second-round pick rescinded today. The NBA found that they had early free agency discussions with center Drew Eubanks before signing him.
