Can Coyotes rookie Logan Cooley continue the hot start?

Leading all NHL rookies in points with 4 in 4 games, Arizona Coyotes rookie Logan Cooley is statistically the front-runner for the Calder Trophy.

Thank you for reading this post, don't forget to subscribe!

Behind him, there are players like Chicago Blackhawks’ phenom Connor Bedard, Columbus Blue Jackets center Adam Fantilli, New Jersey Devils defenseman Luke Hughes and so on.

As the Coyotes 3rd overall pick in the 2022 NHL Draft, Cooley is on pace for being a point-per-game player in 82 contests.

Granted, all of the points Cooley has are assists, but the goals will come eventually.

In the preseason, Cooley had 4 goals and 2 assists in 5 games and was the leader in points for the ‘Yotes.

So far, he has shown that there is more to come.

Two assists against the New Jersey Devils, one helper on the only goal against the New York Rangers and recording a fourth last night against the St. Louis Blues.

Add on top of the fact, Cooley has had even more opportunities to assist teammates, but didn’t score.

Speaking of scoring, Cooley has yet to net his first of the season.

With a slightly easier schedule that consists of teams like the Anaheim Ducks, Montreal Canadiens and the Blackhawks over the next two weeks, Cooley may find himself getting on the scoresheet sooner than we think.

Especially on Oct. 30 against Chicago at Mullett Arena, the matchup between Cooley and Bedard will be a treat for valley hockey fans to watch.

With the top two rookies squaring off, that game will show us who truly is the #1 rookie of the 2023-24 season.

It has only been four games into the season, however, but Cooley’s performances so far have exemplified why the future is bright for the Coyotes.
