Suffering a shock 2-1 defeat to New Mexico United on Oct. 7, the Rising dropped from fourth in the USL Western Conference to sixth with 48 points.

Before their loss to New Mexico, the Rising were on an eight-game unbeaten streak with a 4-4-0 record.

Since the 5-0 demolition win against Detroit City FC on Sept. 16, the Arizona soccer club is 0-4-1.

Moving up the table, Colorado Springs passed Phoenix in the standings with 50 points after squeaking out a 3-2 victory against the Las Vegas Lights last week.

Tonight, the game is crucial to decide where each team will be seeded in the playoffs.

For the Rising, only a win will move them up to fifth place and pass the Switchbacks tonight.

If Phoenix tie or lose, they will stay in sixth place as the playoffs are around the corner.

Scoring in three of the past five matches, it will be interesting to see if Rising forward Dariusz Formella starts tonight after coming off the bench as a substitute in 11 out of a possible 14 games since Formella signed for Phoenix on Jul. 25.

To watch tonights game between the Rising and Switchbacks, it will be streaming on ESPN+ and shown on tv channel 3, Arizona’s Family Sports and Entertainment Network, at 5 p.m.
