Arizona State got off to an impressive start to begin the game as Colorado differed for the second half after winning the coin toss. That ended up working in ASU’s favor as they scored on their opening possession on a trick play by coach Dillingham.

On that first drive, ASU did a good job of attacking the middle of the field on dagger concept routes and Colorado had no answer for it on the first drive of the game.
Impressions from first drive:
Colorado is having a tough time defending the short game in the middle of the field.
Elijah Badger (3 Rec. 48 Yds.) and Troy Omeire (1 rec. 27 Yds.) had a great first drive and Bourguet is 5/6 for 76 yards. #ForksUp #ActivateTheValley

Colorado had a great drive to get them their first points in the game as they had a 16 plays 75-yard drive by Shedeur Sanders and the Offense.
On that drive, Sanders and his receivers like Jimmy Horn Jr. did a good job of stretching the defense as much as possible from sideline to sideline.
It helped create lanes in the middle of the field on the drive and it got them a solid end-around touchdown run on 3rd and goal from the one-yard line to Xavier Weaver.
Impressions from Colorado's 1st touchdown of the game.
Colorado had the ball for 5:58 and ran 16 plays for 75 yards. Colorado's passing offense stretched ASU's defense on that drive and did good on the short to intermediate game.#ForksUp #CUvsASU

On Arizona State’s second touchdown drive of the game, Arizona State had a nice tandem on screens working to Elijah Badger and Xavier Guillory to put them in a good scoring position. It ended up with a Cameron Skattebo 1-yard touchdown to put them up 14-7.

Before the 1st half ended, Colorado drove the ball in 9 plays 81-yard drive after Shedeur Sanders capitalized on a roughing the passer penalty by running in for a 16-yard touchdown.

Bourguet had a great drive to end the half as he finished the half 16-23 for 156 yards and a rushing touchdown they ended up getting a field goal to end the half up 17-14.
Other than these scores it was defense, defense, defense for the Sun Devils as Colorado only managed to convert 1-7 third downs and rush the ball for 34 yards.
Sanders was sacked 3 times and finished the half 14-22 for 116 yards and a rushing touchdown in the first half and the corners defended the go routes really well in this contest so far.
