Sun’s GM, James Jones, did not hold back when asked about why it was time to move Deandre Ayton at Suns media day today.

We don’t reach the heights that we reach without guys that were with us on those prior teams, but this is a new team, and all teams evolve. When you add talent, when you add new players, the team shifts. And when the team shifts, you have a choice. You can stand still, or you can improve. So, we chose the latter.”

Ayton was traded to Portland for Jusuf Nurkic, Grayson Allen, Nassir Little, and Keon Johnson. This was also part of the three-team trade that sent Damian Lillard to Milwaukee.
