Note for this story: In accordance with Arizona State policy, we cannot report injuries at practices unless specifically mentioned by Dillingham or his staff.

Dillingham said that sophomore QB Drew Pyne, junior TE Jalin Conyers and senior DL Anthonie Cooper will be healthy for Saturday’s game against No. 5 USC.

In the third quarter of his first game of the season last Saturday, Pyne suffered a “muscular” injury in the same leg where he had been dealing with a hamstring injury. Pyne took first-team reps today and will likely start Saturday’s game against No. 5 USC with Jacob Conover serving as his backup. Pyne went 5-of-13 for 53 yards with two interceptions and two fumbles lost against Fresno State.

Conyers did not suit up for Saturday’s game with an unspecified injury. The star tight end was a full participant in practice today and will be ready to go for Saturday.

Cooper has not player the entire season dealing with an unspecified injury. He was also a full participant today and will likely start against USC, a huge boost for the defensive line.

“There’s a chance” key reserve offensive lineman Cade Briggs, a junior transfer from Texas Tech could return Saturday, Dillingham said. Briggs has not suited up for ASU the last two games with an unspecified injury, but would provide much needed depth on the offensive line.

Saturday’s starting quarterback Trenton Bourguet and starting defensive end Clayton Smith are doubtful. Both suffered left leg injuries in the first quarter and had a hard time putting any pressure on them when coming off the field.

Reported Injuries

Here were all of the reported injuries before and after Saturday’s game:

The other injuries that have been reported are:

Other than injuries, wide receiver Jake Smith and safety Xavion Alford are suspended by the NCAA for the year after their two-time transfer waivers were denied.

Most, if not all, of the above mentioned players would have likely been included in Arizona State’s two-deep depth chart.

The injury update from Dillingham was better than expected today, but the Sun Devils still face a lot of problems heading into USC.
