Rising vs. Detroit City match preview

The Phoenix Rising return to the pitch on Saturday after having a week off from games as they face the Detroit City FC at home. The Rising are entering Saturday’s match on fire, not losing a game since August 19.

Last Saturday, the Rising ended their match knotted at 0-0- with FC Tulsa on the road, snapping their three game winning streak.

During their week off from games, two Rising players earned USL recognitions. Defender Mohamed Traore received an honorable mention for the USL Championship Team of the Week after an impressive defensive showing against FC Tulsa. Danny Trejo was named August’s USL Player of the Month with five goals, two assists and a second place spot in the race to the Golden Boot.

Needless to say, the Rising are hot going into Saturdays match against Detroit City who are only in their second season with the USL. Detroit City holds a 9-12-7 record and are currently holding the No. 8 spot in the Eastern Group of the USL Championship, only one point ahead of the No. 9 spot.

This upcoming Saturday marks the inaugural showdown between the Rising and Detroit City, as they go head-to-head for the very first time in their franchise histories.

The match will kickoff on Saturday at 7:30 p.m. at Phoenix Rising Stadium on 38th St. and Washington.
