NL Cy Young watch

In the National Cy Young category Zac Gallen held the lead for the majority of the year, but after two shaky starts Blake Snell became the front runner. Gallen went from -180 to +2,200 in less than a week. Since then Gallen has found his way back into the race. Due to Gallen’s complete game shutout against a playoff team in the Cubs.

Zac Gallen respectively holds first on the Diamondbacks pitching staff in wins with 15, and strikeouts with 195. The Diamondbacks ace also boasts a 3.31 ERA which is tenth in the MLB, and a 1.08 whip, ninth in the MLB. Zac Gallen is currently holding the third best odds to win the National League Cy Young award at +800. Gallen’s next start will likely come on Wednesday, September 13th against the New York Mets.

Rookie of the Year is Carrolls to lose

As for the National League Rookie of the Year category, there isn’t really a race going on. Corbin Carroll has been the front runner for the award all year, starting at +350 and moving all the way up to -10,000.

Carroll was the only rookie this season to start in the all-star game, and also to be thought of as an option for MVP. Briefly in the year Carroll was in the top five for MVP odds. Carroll is, in my mind, going to undoubtedly run away with the National League Rookie of the Year award.
