The Arizona Diamondbacks saw their season record against the Colorado Rockies suffer a setback, slipping to 9-3, following an offensive drought that resulted in a 3-2 loss.

In the first, the Rockies jumped out to an early lead off Diamondbacks’ starter Brandon Pfaadt. After a leadoff walk, Nolan Jones and Brendan Rodgers capitalized with a pair of base knocks to put Colorado on the board.

Pfaadt ended up exiting in the 4th inning; he allowed three earned runs on six hits and two walks.

While the Diamondbacks did answer back with a run in the bottom of the first, it would then be a constant struggle all night to take advantage of runners in scoring position situations.

Arizona’s offense went 0-5 with RISP in the latter nine innings. They also went 0-12 at the plate to end the game.

Because of this, despite a combination of 5.1 shutout innings from the bullpen, the Diamondbacks fell short 3-2.

On the bright side, Andrew Saalfrank, in his first major league appearance, did not allow any base runners during his 1.2 innings of work.

The Diamondbacks will look to win the series finale at 12:40 tomorrow afternoon. Zach Davies is scheduled to get the start.
