With an early goal from Danny Trejo at the 2-minute mark, the Rising took a statement lead against the Torros. The second goal came from Manuel Arteaga in the 39th minute to put the team up 2-0. After the duo’s goals on Saturday, the Rising have recorded nine goals in eight games.

Unlike the Rising’s recent showings, they put on an impressive first half performance, scoring both goals before halftime. With their performance, the Rising made a jump to fourth place in the Western Conference of the USL Championship.

The Rising had five shots on target, connecting on two. Goalkeeper, Rocco Rios Novo had an impressive six saves out of the six on-target shots from the Torros.

Trejo and Arteaga have been dominant over the last several games, both being key pieces to the Rising’s win streak.

Trejo has recorded five goals over the last five games, finding the back of the net twice against El Paso. The only game he did not score in was during their first game against the Torros where they succumbed to a 1-0 loss.

Arteaga has scored in three of the last four games he started for the Rising, adding one assist and three interceptions.

Arteaga and Trejo are in a tight race for the Golden Boot with both players leading their team to impressive wins this season. Trejo was the Man of the Match on Saturday and took over as the official Golden Boot leader.
