Bouncing back from a devastating bullpen collapse last night, the Arizona Diamondbacks took the series finale against the Reds with a 5-2 win.

Slade Cecconi, in just his third career start, pitched 5.2 innings while allowing just one earned run on three hits. Cecconi kept the Reds scoreless up until a sacrifice fly with two outs in the sixth inning.

This strong starting pitching performance allowed the Diamondbacks to remain within striking distance, as it was only a matter of time before their offense broke open.

Trailing 2-1 into the bottom of the 7th, Lourdes Gurriel Jr. hammered a ball over the left field fence for a game-tying solo home run.

Then, with a nice momentum boost provided by Lourdes, the Reds bullpen completely collapsed in the eighth inning.

Despite only recording one hit, the Diamondbacks opened up a three-run lead thanks to three straight walks to start the inning. In total, combined between Ian Gibaut and Lucas Sims, four walks were issued in the eighth.

Meanwhile, even with a depleted bullpen, the Diamondbacks relievers held strong, helping secure a 5-2 win.

Next up for the Diamondbacks is a three-game series against the Dodgers starting on Monday. This series marks the final meeting between the two teams this year, with the season series currently tied at five wins each.

Should the Diamondbacks win this series, it would mark their first season series win against the Dodgers since 2018
