The Diamondbacks have once again secured a spot in the top 15 of the ESPN power rankings, with their recent win streak propelling them up five spots to the #13 position.

Positioned between the Twins and Cubs, the Diamondbacks have received attention due to their swift turnaround over the past few weeks.

From enduring a nine-game losing streak and holding the worst record in the MLB since the All-Star break, to suddenly finding themselves in the midst of the NL wild card race, it has been a rollercoaster season for the Diamondbacks.

“The D-backs began August with a nine-game losing streak but have turned it around dramatically, winning nine times in 11 games, an encouraging sign for a relatively young team that was an aggressive slide. Their current four-game winning streak — against a Padres team that’s chasing them and a Rangers team that has been among the best in baseball all year — was especially uplifting. And Monday’s win offered a convenient encapsulation of these past few weeks. The D-backs found themselves down in the ninth and trailing again in the 11th but rallied both times, ending it with a walk-off double by Tommy Pham. Prior to their current 9-2 run, the D-backs had lost 25 of 32 games.”

Currently, the Diamondbacks are .5 games behind the Reds for the third wildcard spot, however, this can change completely by the end of this weekend.

Next up for Arizona is a crucial four-game series against the Reds, who are arriving fresh from a series sweep against the Angels.

The Reds were ranked #16 in the latest ESPN power rankings.
