Zach Ertz receives full clearance for football activities

Arizona Cardinals' Zach Ertz speaks during a news conference at the Dignity Health Arizona Cardinals Training Center in Tempe on April 11, 2023.

Following an early exit from a Week 10 matchup against the Rams, it was quickly revealed that Cardinals’ TE Zach Ertz would be sidelined for the rest of the season, attributed to a torn ACL and MCL.

Now, nearly nine months later, the three-time Pro Bowler has been cleared to participate in football activities and should be ready to go for the Cardinals on Week One, per Mike Garafolo.

Once the Cardinals take Ertz of the PUP (Physically Unable to Perform) list, he will have full clearance for all practices and games. The sole remaining player on the Cardinals’ PUP list is none other than former Rookie of the Year quarterback Kyler Murray.

Although Zach Ertz’s tenure with the Cardinals has yet to witness a full season, the 32-year-old was putting up great numbers before his devastating injury.

In the 9 full games that Ertz was active, he averaged close to 45 yards per game and grabbed four touchdowns.

This season will be Zach’s 10th season of his NFL career.
