Coming out of Texas High School (Texarkana, TX) in 2021, Clayton Smith, was ranked as the No. 2 EDGE rusher in the country by 247 Sports and appeared ready to make an instant impact at Oklahoma.

He redshirted in 2021, but did appear in four games then as well, accumulating 0.5 TFL and a fumble recovery.
The 6-foot-4, 245-pound redshirt sophomore talks with me about how he has a chip on his shoulder from this experience of not a lot of playing time and how he is not going to take the opportunity for granted with ASU.
“I got my position, I got the role, it’s all about putting on a performance and showing people I can still do it,” Smith said.
