The injury occurred on a swing-and-miss resulting in a strikeout in the fifth inning. Almost right away, Carroll expressed displeasure and was checked out by the Diamondbacks trainer.
At the time of the incident, the D-backs trailed the Rays 6-0. However, a loss to the Rays would be the least of their worries if Carroll’s injury actually turns out to be something serious.
Stay tuned for further updates.
