Jake McCarthy was originally drafted by the Diamondbacks in the first round of the 2018 MLB Draft. He has since played two full seasons in Arizona.
However, after posting a .143 batting average through the first 2022 games of the 2023 season, the Diamondbacks sent McCarthy down to Reno to make room for some additional arms in the rotation.
In Reno, the 25-year-old performed well, ending his 22 games with 30 hits, 4 home runs, 17 RBIs, and a .333 batting average.
For Dominic Fletcher, the rookie outfielder, will surely be back in the majors shortly, as he has started his major league career quite well. Since making his debut on April 30th, Fletcher has posted a .308 batting average, including two home runs and 13 RBIs.
The Diamondbacks will now embark on a long homestand starting with the Boston Red Sox on Friday night. First pitch is scheduled for 6:40, it will be Brandon Pfaadt taking the mound for the D-backs.
