Former Arizona State tight end Jacob Newell committed to Akron today. Newell decided to enter the transfer portal on April 21, as he was buried behind a stacked tight end group that includes Jalin Conyers, Bryce Pierre and Messiah Swinson. Newell was a freshman last season for ASU and did not see any playing time after coming out of Thurston High School in Springfield, OR as a three-star prospect. He will have a big opportunity with Akron to prove himself.
