CBS Sports’ Jon Rothstein reported on April 17 that ASU would be playing in Vegas. This was the same day that ASU starting guard DJ Horne announced he was transferring to NC State, and now the two schools officially have a good chance of meeting in the tournament.

Last season ASU went 3-1 in Vegas after a huge December victory over Creighton in a non-conference neutral site game and defeating Oregon and USC in the Pac-12 Tournament before eventually falling to Arizona. The Sun Devils also won their non-conference tournament last season, the Legends Classic in Brooklyn, after picking up significant resume-boosting wins against VCU and Michigan.

The graphic the Sun Devils posted featured Frankie Collins, leading fans to speculate the return of ASU’s starting point guard who currently has his name in the NBA Draft.

The Sun Devils will be fielding almost an entirely new team next season, so it will be interesting to see if they can put everything together early on in the season to perform well in Vegas.
