Statistical breakdown of the first four games:
Kevin Durant is 8th on the list with 27.8 points per game and is second in free throws, averaging nearly 10 a game, only behind Anthony Edwards.
In the assists category, Chris Paul is fifth with 8.5 assists per game. Remarkably, this is actually below his season average of 8.9.
Surprisingly, Deandre Ayton leads all other players in rebounds, however, he does have an extra game on his hands compared to many. Nevertheless, Ayton’s average of 11.3 rebounds per game has gone overlooked, despite playing a large role in the Suns’ Game 4 win.
Shifting back towards Kevin Durant and Devin Booker, the duo leads by quite a large margin in a category that may not be something to brag about. This is minutes played.
Both Durant and Booker are averaging over 43 minutes per game, well above their season average. Chris Paul is also fifth on the list at 38.3 minutes per game. Whether this constant playing time can be continued without regression remains to be seen.
In the team statistical category, the Suns are second in PPG with 118.5, trailing only the Miami Heat. On the flip side, Phoenix is last in three pointers attempted, and by a wide margin. Their 23 three point attempts per game are seven behind the Knicks, who are second to last.
Lastly, the Suns lead all teams in free throw attempts with 30 per game. This is a massive difference compared to their season average of only 17th, which was in the bottom five of the NBA.
The Suns will have a chance to wrap up the series early this Tuesday back at the home court. Tipoff is scheduled for 7PM.
