Suns Showing Interests in Kevin Love Ahead of His Buyout

© Brad Mills - USA TODAY Sports

The Phoenix Suns have one of the most intriguing rosters in all of basketball. Just a couple of weeks ago, they had a bunch of youth players that they’ve built around over the past three-plus seasons.

Now, over half of those players are no longer with the team due to a win-now move made by the President of Basketball Operations James Jones, and his staff to go out and get superstar player Kevin Durant to play alongside Devin Booker, Chris Paul, and Deandre Ayton.

Fast forward and move to today’s team, their bench players consist of veterans like T.J. Warren (who was a part of the trade) and Terrence Ross who are looking to make immediate impacts with the team.

Now, there are reports suggesting that the Suns are interested in veteran player Kevin Love after his buyout deal with the Cleveland Cavaliers according to ESPN Analyst Brian Windhorst.

Love is currently averaging 8.5 PPG in 20 minutes while shooting 38% from the floor and 35% from three. He’s also a 5-time NBA All-Star as well as an NBA champion during his time with the Cavaliers.

He would bring even more championship pedigree to this Suns team as well as a guy that can hit threes off the bench and be tenacious on the glass.

The Miami Heat are the likely team to be “very interested” in Love but Windhorst alluded to everyone saying don’t be surprised if Phoenix makes a run for him.

“The Suns have been doing some background research into Kevin over the last 24 hours. And don’t forget James Jones the team president was teammates with Kevin Love when they won the championship in 2016 with the Cavs.”

“The new-look Suns have a roster spot, have a bunch of money they can still pay to free agents so keep an eye on the Suns as a contender for Kevin Love.”

The Weight of Arizona Sits on Durant’s Shoulders

It’s interesting to think since Suns forward Ish Wainwright’s two-way contract is expired. We shall see what the Suns plan to do with him, or if they plan to go in a different direction such as Love.
