The Phoenix Suns are finally set at ownership as new owner Mat Ishbia is officially taking over for the Phoenix Suns and Mercury after getting votes approved by the NBA Board of Governors. This has been a long time coming for Ishbia and his family as the Suns now embark on a new era.
“This is the culmination of a lifelong dream. I love the game of basketball deeply but it’s so much more than that for me."

Now, the first step for Ishbia to accomplish is for the Suns to provide a trade that could potentially send Jae Crowder to a new team before Thursday’s trade deadline. Well according to Ishbia himself, they’re doing everything they can to accomplish this feat while also staying positive and confident about the team’s current roster.
"We have a championship-caliber team right now with no changes. If I can take an upgrade from a player that is not playing to a player that is playing, we’ve gotten even closer and if I can do more than that, I’m sure that would be even better.”

The Suns right now sit at 29-26 and have Devin Booker returning for tonight’s game against the Brooklyn Nets which is going on right now as we speak. One can argue, the Suns would have a better record if the team had stayed healthy for a long time this season.
This makes a time like this exciting if you’re a Suns fan because it feels like a new era is brewing in the Valley with Ishbia in charge. One of the things that Ishbia acknowledged is that he isn’t afraid to spend as much as he needs in order to get the job done.
"At the end of the day, you can build a lot of relationships, but I also paid the top price – by a lot."
