You got to love the NBA trade deadline season. Brooklyn Nets star point guard Kyrie Irving requested a trade earlier today in order to take his talents to another team according to Shams Charania from the Athletic.

Irving on the season is averaging 27.1 PPG, 5.1 RPG, and 5.3 APG on 48% FG and 37% 3 PT. This comes during an interesting time when Irving said a couple of weeks ago that he wanted to stay with the Nets long-term but the ‘ball was in their court’ in terms of a contract extension according to Chris Haynes.
Brooklyn Nets star Kyrie Irving seeking contract extension, agent Shetellia Irving tells @BleacherReport: “The desire is to make Brooklyn home, with right type of extension, which means ball is in Nets’ court to communicate if their desire is the same.” https://t.co/L7E7Dms7Th

This comes with saying now. Should the Suns be interested in the Nets’ star player before the trade deadline? The Suns will surely have to give up the farm to do it with only guys like Devin Booker and Mikal Bridges being off the table.
There have been reports coming out that the Suns may be looking to upgrade at point guard this offseason due to Chris Paul’s age and where the team is at financially with a few of their starting players.
Fred VanVleet is a name that has been on the Suns’ radar this season. With Irving now in the picture, could the Suns look for a more splashy signing as the trade deadline nears?
The trade deadline ends in less than a week. If you’re a Suns fan, buckle up and enjoy the ride.
