PHOENIX – Prosecutors filed a criminal complaint Monday against Phoenix Suns forward Dillon Brooks for a misdemeanor DUI charge, according to court records, per TMZ. Brooks was arrested in Scottsdale on March 6 after he was suspected of driving under the influence. The arrest occurred around 1 a.m. MST on Scottsdale Road, just south of Thunderbird Road.

Brooks was suspected of being under the influence of marijuana rather than alcohol, and the incident occurred while Brooks was recovering from a hand injury. Following the incident, Brooks apologized to his teammates and coaches. The charge filed against Brooks is a Class 1 misdemeanor. Brooks now has a court date scheduled for Oct. 28 as the legal process moves forward.

For the Suns, the situation involving one of their forwards has now progressed from the March arrest to a formal criminal complaint. The next significant development will come with Brooks’ scheduled court appearance in October.
