Players Getting Sloppy

Against both UCLA and USC the Sun Devils turned the ball over at a higher rate than they have all season. This season being their best start in the last 5 seasons, this team can get back on track easily.

After giving up 18 turnovers against UCLA, the team gave up 11 on Saturday against USC. They turned USC over 18 times, however did not turn those turnovers into points consistently.

In the Pac-12, the conference of champions, you have to bring your “a” game every game. Any given night you can lose. Arizona State moving forward will be okay, some shots just weren’t falling over the weekend.

Getting Back On Track

UCLA took their first loss in conference play Saturday against Arizona over in Tucson. ASU only 2 games back from first place will have to get back to that high level of play they started the year with.

With about 5 weeks left in the regular season, there is a lot of time for the Sun Devils to get back on track. Right now they sit at 6-3 in the Pac-12.

As mentioned before there are no nights off in this conference. However, the next 8 games for ASU will allow them to gain some momentum before having to play Arizona and UCLA.

Next 8 games:

  • 01/26 Washington
  • 01/28 Washington State
  • 02/02 Oregon State
  • 02/04 Oregon
  • 02/09 Stanford
  • 02/11 California
  • 02/16 Colorado
  • 02/18 Utah

They can easily go 7-1 over this stretch before having to end the season on a three game run against Arizona, UCLA, and USC.

Those last three games will be huge for conference tourney seeding. All and all we are reaching the last stretch of the season.
