According to NFL insider Ian Rapoport, the Cardinals have requested permission to interview Steelers defensive assistant Brian Flores.

Flores has been coaching in some way since 2008, when he started as the special teams assistant for the New England Patriots.

Following his nearly 10-year tenure with the Pats, Flores went on to be the head coach for the Miami Dolphins from 2019–2021.

In two of his three seasons as head coach, the Dolphins recorded winning records but failed to make the playoffs.

Additionally, Flores brings an interesting connection with Adrian Wilson, whom the Cardinals have interviewed as a possible general manager candidate.

While Flores coached for the Patriots in 2013, Adrian Wilson was actually on the team’s roster, although he did not get any playing time, Wilson has reportedly spoken highly of Brian Flores.

According to Mike Jurecki, “he was very impressed with his football IQ, knowledge of being able to coach multiple positions, and his command.”
