Key dates to watch out for during the 2023 offseason

The Cardinals have officially entered the 2023 offseason, an exciting time, but surely, a critical couple of months that will determine how this team shapes up in the upcoming fall.

Just two weeks from now, on January 28th, the NFLPA Collegiate Bowl will take place in Pasadena, California. Here, NFL scouts will have the opportunity to view some of the best undiscovered draft-eligible college athletes.

Fast forward to the end of February, and the NFL Scouting Combine will occur from February 28th through March 6th.

March is when things really start picking up as teams frantically begin to shape up their rosters for the upcoming season.


  • March 7th: Deadline for teams to franchise tag players
  • March 13–15: The window opens for pre-free agency negotiations between teams and players, only for unrestricted FAs.
  • March 15: Deadline for teams to submit qualifying offers for restricted free agents; otherwise, they will become unrestricted FAs by 12 p.m. M.S.T
  • March 15: Official start to the new league year. After noon, teams may begin executing trades and signing unrestricted free agents.

April 3rd will be important for the Cardinals in particular. On this date, teams who have brough on new head coaches can begin workout programs for the team.

April 21st marks the deadline for restricted free agents to sign offers with an outside team.

April 27th will then be the deadline for teams to test and interview draft-eligible players.

And finally, the 2023 NFL draft will take place from April 27th through the 29th in Kansas City, Missouri.
