With Andy Lee and Johnathan Ledbetter questionable to play, the Arizona Cardinals elevated punter Nolan Cooney and defensive lineman Manny Jones from the practice squad.
Cooney was on the Cardinals during the offseason but was released as part of the 53-man roster cuts. Cooney has never punted in regular season NFL game, but he was a good punter at the University of Syracuse, where he avered 44.8 yards per punt. Cooney began his NFL career as an undrafted free agent with the New Orleans Saints.
Jones played well in the preseason and earned a spot on the Cardinals’ practice squad. In preseason Jones had 11 tackles in one sack in three games. In 2021 at Colorado State, Jones had 45 tackles, six for a loss, and 2.5 sacks.
