Merrill Kelly went six innings on the day while giving up two earned runs on four hits. The bats were relatively quiet as Corbin Carroll, Geraldo Perdomo, Pavin Smith, and Josh Naylor were all unable to record a hit. The story of the night though, was the heroics behind the bat of Eugenio Suárez.

Eugenio Suárez hit four home runs on Saturday night, as he becomes only the 19th player to do so in the entire history of the MLB.

Suárez spoke on his legendary night:

“Obviously there’s some mixed feelings right now because we didn’t win the game, but this is baseball. That’s why this game is so special. … It’s a gift. I don’t take it for granted. I’ve been working so hard. I never thought that was going to happen.”

Suárez had a home run in the second, fourth, sixth, and ninth inning. The most electrifying moment came when the D-Backs trailed the Braves 7-6 when Suarez then came up and tied it up sending the game to extra innings.

The Arizona bullpen couldn’t hold up in the end, in what seems like a broken record for the Snakes at this point. It started when Ryan Thompson let up a two-run home run in the seventh inning and spiraled from there. Justin Martinez took the loss, as his wild pitch allowed Matt Olson to score for Atlanta, helping seal the victory for the Braves.

The D-Backs will look to end their four-game losing streak on Sunday at Chase Field.
